Abstract: One of the effort to reduce our dependency to wheat import is by developing tropical wheat adapted to mid altitude. However, high temperature in this area can be a limiting factor for wheat growth and production. Application of putrescine to plants may alleviate the negative effect of high temperature stress. The objective of the research was to study the characters responses of introduction high temperature sensitive wheat to putrescine application grown at mid and high altitudes. The material plant used is introduction high temperature sensitive wheat Munal, S-03, and Dewata. The observed characters were plant height, number of tillers, flag leaf area, leaf thickness, flag leaf angle, stomatal density, relative transpiration rate, and cholorophyll content. The result showed that the genotypes affected almost all growth characters, while putrescine application only affected to stomatal density and relative transpiration rate of wheat grown in Cisarua with the best putrescine consentration of 1.25 mM. High temperature sensitive wheat grew better in high altitude (Cipanas) than that of in mid altitude (Cisarua). The genotype S-03 was more suitable to be grown in both altitudes.
