Abstract: Buffalo is an animal that is often used for meat and milk productions, work, sport and social status. The main potential products of buffalo are meat production and work; the other potential which people currently start looking for is buffalo milk because it has good nutrient content. Peoples have already used the milk for traditional food or medicine. This experiment is aimed at studying the response in milk composition to feed given by farmer. The main feed given by farmer is rice straw without additional concentrate. Variables measured were feed given, feed dry matter (DM), ash, crude protein (CP), fat, crude fiber (CF) and energy intakes, milk composition measured by chemical analysis and milko tester, and body weight estimated from various body size measurements. Data were analyzed descriptively. The result showed that rice straw obtained in September has the best nutrient content (the highest CP and energy contents, but the lowest CF content) causing the highest intake. Rice straw that were given to buffaloes had no different effects on milk compotition and body weight among buffaloes
