Abstract: This study was aimed to evaluate calcium balance and effect of inulin suplementation on white rats (Sparague dawley) fed purified dietdeficiency calcium with or without inulin. This study used 12 female white rats (Sprague dawley) aged more than 15 months were maintained over 2 months. The study using Completely Randomized design with 3 treatments and 4 replications.1) control purified diet, 2)calcium deficiencypurified diet, and 3) calcium deficiencypurified dietsuplemented with inulin. Treatment was conducted for 2 months, and every morning feeds residual were weighed. To evaluate dry matter digestibility and calcium balance, blood and feces was sampled for five days prior to the end of the experiment. Plasma calcium was analyzed using O-C FASTĀ®kit. Calcium concentrations in feces, femur bone, liver and kidney were analyzed using wet ashing method and read using AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer). The results showed that dry matter intake, daily body weight gain, calcium of femur bone, kidney and liver were not significantly different among the treatments. Calcium intake, calcium in the feces and calcium in the plasma of control treatment significantly higher (P<0.01)than in calcium deficiencypurified diet. Supplementation 2.20% of inulinoncalciumdeficiencypurified dietable toincrease the calciumabsorbtionandthere is anincreasingofcalcium retention in bone about 11.35%.
