Abstract: This dissertation describes on the increasing of Islamic Extension Agent competencies. The objectives of this research are to : (1) analyze the personal characteristics of Islamic Extension Agent, job motivation, the role of implementation of Islamic Extension Agent, institutional support of extention, social environment supports, the fulfillment degree of Islamic Extension Agent, and Islamic Extension Agents competencies, (2) analyze the influence of personal characteristics of Islamic Extension Agent, their job motivation, the level of role implementation of Islamic Extension Agent, institutional support, environmental and social support to the fulfillment of the role of Islamic Extension Agent, (3) analyze the influence of personal characteristics of Islamic Extension Agent, their job motivation, the level of implementation of the role of Islamic Extension Agent, institutional support, social and environmental support level fulfillment of Islamic Extension Agent against the competencies of Islamic Extension Agent, and ( 4) to formulate the strategies for improving the competencies of Islamic Extension Agent in three districts of West Java Province. This study was conducted from September to December 2012 located in Bandung City, Bogor and Ciamis Districts in the province of West Java. Meanwhile the respondents amounted of 114 of Islamic Extension Agent and 120 clients under their guidance of Islamic Learning Group (Majelis Ta’lim) members. Sampling procedure was taken by census of Islamic Extension Agent and by using the Snowball Technique for majelis ta’lim members. The Data collection techniques were questionnaire, observation, in-depth interview, and documentary study. The statistical analysis used were descriptive statistic analysis and path analysis of different test Mann Whitney, path analysis and qualitative analysis were done by using an inductive approach. The findings indicated that: (1) the positive personal characteristics of Islamic Extention Agent are the age, informal education and learning orientation degree; affiliated impulse is the highest kind of job motivation; the role of motivator is the highest kind of type; extention institutional support indicates the low category, especially in terms of facilities and education resources ; whereas the social environment support sphere shows the highest category; need for creativity is the highest kind of fulfillment too; The most lowest competency lies in developing professional competence and develop the extension, (2) the factors that affect the fulfillment of Islamic Extension Agent are: age; the role of educator; central institution policy support; and support of the leader, (3 ) Competence Extension Islam influenced by : the level of learning orientation ; job motivation; the role of motivator ; support facilities and extension resources; information needs; and the fulfillment need of Islamic Extension Agent, (4) increasing the competence Extension Strategies Islamic done by strengthening extention of institutional support and develop cooperation with the extention stakeholders.
