Abstract: The objective of this research are analyzing and comparing the determinant of macroeconomic factors towards Islamic banking in Indonesia and Malaysia. Data used in this research was monthly time series data from period of December 2005 to December 2012 which was obtained from secondary data of Economic and Finance of Bank Indonesia (SEKI-BI), Indonesia Saria Banking Statistic (SPS-BI) and also data taken from Central Bank of Malaysia and Malaysia Department of Statistic. This paper examines the dynamic interactions between financing of Islamic banking and macroeconomic factors between Indonesia and Malaysia by employing the Vector Autoregressive (VAR), Co-integration test and Vector Error Model (VECM) combined with Impulse Response Function (IRF) and Forecast Error Variance Decomposition (FEVD) to see whether the macroeconomic condition influences financing and non performing finance in the long-run. Also, it uses time series data of total Islamic bank financing (IB Financing), Non Performing Finance and Industrial Production Index, Profit Loss Sharing of Islamic Interbank Rate using SBIS (Sertifikat Bank Indonesia Syariah) and Malaysia Islamic Interbank Rate, Inflation, Exchange Rate and Money Demand to represent macroeconomic factors. The result of this research found that in the short-run, macroeconomic factor doesn’t affect much on syaria financing. Whereas in the long-run, there is evidence of relationship between macroeconomic and financing on Islamic bank, consist of development of financing, inflation, profit loss sharing, output, money supply and financing. On the other hand, there’s evidence to support following hypothesis of macroeconomic factors are influencing on Islamic bank in both countries, where increase in inflation can causes Islamic banking non performing finance of syaria banking in the long run.
