dc.description.abstractMarine protected area is a "marine reserve" which is quite important and can be used as a toll fisheries management to ensure sustainable fisheries management. The interaction between the use of one and the other will cause friction if there is no coordination, such as fisheries management with the implementation of marine protected areas. Fishery management is synonymous with " production and the welfare of society" while the implementation of marine protected areas is identical to the " protection of resources and the non-profit ". Interactions in the development of fisheries and marine protected areas are marked by a variety of problems, such as the pressure of fishing activities that have not been exploited yet environmentally and fish resources optimally. The problem is the bottleneck in sustainable fisheries management . In addition to the potential for development, ecosystems and fish resources contained also has the potential to get pressure from a variety of fishing activities that have not environmentally. Such activities include the result has not been exploited fish resources optimally and not unbalance the application of principles of sustainable fisheries management. For it is necessary to study the "interaction between the capture fishery with marine protected area and its impact on sustainable fisheries". Capture fisheries can be identified through the elements related to marine protected area. This research will studied some issues that related to: (i) the condition of people in the surrounding waters and marine protected areas, (ii) the characteristics of fish resources, fishing technology selection, optimum allocation of fishing gear, and (iii) the pattern of utilization of fisheries areas. In this research, geographic information system approach is used to determine the interactions between fisheries and marine protected areas. This research objective are: (1) to analyze the condition of marine protected areas to do with the sustainability of fishing effort, (2) to analyze the characteristics of fish resources and fishing technologies that are environmentally friendly, and (3) to make use patterns in the spatial region fisheries. Results of research could be concluded: 1. Marine protected areas can sustain efforts Ciamis traditional fisheries and sustainable communities in line with the increasing awareness about the preservation of coastal ecosystems and the benefits of the marine protected areas slowly felt by the fishermen. 2. Fishing effort still can be optimized by the addition of the number of fishing units by considering aspects of fishing technology support selected for primary commodity criteria environmentally friendly and can be operated on marine protected areas is passive fishing gear that are gillnet, set longlines and semi active fishing gear like trammel net. 3. Patterns of fishing activity in the zone was appropriate utilization and sustainable fisheries zone, but still there are tools and technologies that have not been in accordance with sustainable utilization mechanisms such as beach seines, shore-operated stationary lift nets and danish seines, and social conflict due to the same fishing ground.en
