Batur sheep and garut sheep have good potential of their wool utilization because both types of sheep are crossbreed between local sheep with merino sheep. Research about wool quality of local sheep is still very limited. Information about growth rate and quality of wool would be useful as a reference for the utilization and processing of wool. Parameters observed in this research consist of growth rate, staple length, fibre diametre, staple strength, and staple elongation. Wool sample taken from midside body of sheep. This experiment was conducted on a sheep farm in Garut and Banjarnegara and Physical Evaluation Laboratory, Higher School of Textille Technology Bandung. Data were analyzed using T-Test method with 2 independent samples with five replicates of each samples and the data then was processed using Minitab 16. The analysis showed significant difference in the parameters of length, diameter and fibre growth rate. Conversely, breed factor had no significantly differences to staple strength and staple elongation. Batur sheep has a characteristic and wool’s quality better than garut sheep, so that batur sheep has a more chance to develop as a wools produceren
