| dc.description.abstract | Fish of by-catch has a high protein content, which is potential to be used as peptone. This research aimed to produce peptone from spoiled by-catch fish and applicate it as component of bacteria and yeast growth media. Peptone from by-catch fish has protein content of 77,93%. Growth of bacteria Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and yeast Saccharomyces cereviciae analyzes by OD and TPC. Growth rate of E.coli in media with peptone from by-catch fish is 0.062 per hour, meanwhile control is 0.071 per hour and commercial peptone is 0.072 per hour. Growth rate of S.aureus in media with peptone from by-catch fish is 0.047 per hour, meanwhile control is 0.042 per hour and commercial peptone is 0.039 per hour.
