| Abstract: | In storing of shallot seedbulbs, the damage because porous, disease, rooting and sprouting are often occur. The objective of this study was to determine the optimum temperature and packaging in order to maintain the qualities of shallot seedbulbs during the storing time. In this study, the packaging used is plastic net and polyethylene, stored at 10°C, 15°C, and room temperature. Parameters measured were weight loss, moisture content, hardness, damage, and sprouting. Room temperature could withstand the increasing of weight lost from week 2 to week 8 and temperature treatment could not withstand the decreasing of moisture content and hardness during the storing time. Storing at room temperature could withstand sprouting and damage of seedbulbs during the storing time. Plastic net packaging could withstand the increasing of weight loss at week 1 and week 2. Packaging treatment could not withstand the decreasing moisture content and hardness during the storing time. Polyethylene packaging could reduce damage during the storing time. Plastic net and polyethylene packaging could reduce sprouting during the storing time. Storing at room temperature with polyethylene packaging could reduce damage by 11.97% and sprouting by 0.004% during the storing time |
