Abstract: Indonesia is one of tuna exporters. World demand to fishery product of Indonesia especially tuna increases year by year. PPSNZJ is the biggest harbor in Indonesia and expected to be center of fishery product market especially tuna in Indonesia. This research aimed to analyse tuna production, analyse facility needs and decide the strategy of tuna industry development. Primary data were obtained from interview and secondary data were obtained from observation and literature. The result of this research were that production of tuna during 2008-2012 increased 34,28%. The amount of tuna which were imported from other places to PPSNZJ during 2008-2012 were 9,7 %. The export distribution were 64,49%, regional distribution were 45% and local distribution were 53,88%. From 2008 to 2012 tuna production rose in average 14,8% per year. The special facilities for tuna in PPSNZJ which needed to be repaired were TLC, wharf, ice factory and cold storage. The effort which needed to be made during developing of tuna industry in PPSNZJ were expanding market, increasing the quality of human resource and special facility of tuna and cooperating with foreign enterprise.
