Preliminary study has been conducted to identify bioactive compounds in trengguli (Cassia fistula) leaves. Traditionally, C. fistula leaves were used for treatment of malaria disease. Phytochemical investigations on leaves’ methanol extract of C. fistula from Bogor Botanical Garden showed the presence of alkaloid, flavonoid, phenolic, tannin, and steroid. Fractionation of the methanol extract was conducted through some chromatography methods and the results have been analyzed with nuclear magnetic resonance spectrophotometer and liquid chromatograph-mass spectrometer. The analysis showed that the n-hexaneethyl acetate 3:7 fraction was predicted to contain pelargonidin-3-(feruloyl) diglucoside-5-(malonyl)glucoside (m/z 1019) and various fatty acids.en
