System in Selection of Soybean High Yealding Varieties (SIPEKSOY).

Abstract

The Government through the Ministry of Agriculture has released more than 72 soybean varieties. High yielding varieties is one of the factors that play an important role in increasing the productivity of soybean. Lack of access the information on soybean high yielding varieties led to the knowledge level of farmers about soybean varieties are also low. This is demonstrated by the habits of farmers who did not use high yielding varieties of soybean. Farmers were not using varieties in rotation. They use varieties based on experience and not based on the knowledge or the results of the valid study. It causes decreased productivity and resilience of soybeans. Limitations of experts to disseminate information about soybean varieties and information on pests and diseases, it is necessary to build a system that can manage and store information that can be accessed easily by farmers. Soybean varieties electoral system (SIPEKSOY) is one of the systems that can be used to overcome these limitations. The purpose of this study was developed a system of the selection of soybean high yielding varieties based on online. The method used adopted SDLC method including planning, analysis, design, implementation, testing, and evaluation. The implementation of this system is using PHP and MySQL. The electoral system of soybean high yielding varieties produced was presented in three form, namely the selection of soybean varieties in the search of varieties; searching of varieties by category determination, namely potential yield category, ripe pod age, seed coat color, seed size, the adaptation of land or area, plant height, security to pests or diseases; and the search based on the keywords entered by the user. This soybean varieties electoral system simplifies and speeds up the user, e.g. extension workers, farmers, society, and experts in obtaining information about high yielding varieties of soybean.
