Title: Edible Portion Domba Ekor Tipis dan Domba Ekor Gemuk di Jasa Pelayanan Akikah

Abstract: Akikah is slaughtering of animals for children born in the rituals of religious Muslims. Javanese Thin Tailed and Javanese Fat Tailed is the type of sheep used to local animal akikah. Demand animals akikah highly variable in terms of weight body, it is expected would influence the part wich can be consumed. The purpose of this research was to evaluate the differences of edible portion of Javanese Thin Tailed and Javanese Fat Tailed sheep in akikah service. The research used 17 Javanese Thin Tailed and 5 Javanese Fat Tailed. The research was designed using random complete design and data was analized by analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) and slaughter weight was used as covariable. The results of this research showed that the carcass weight, carcass fat, and tail of Javanese fat tailed was higher (P<0.05) than the javanese thin tail. The percentage of carcass javanese Thin Tailed and javanese Fat Tailed were 42.56% and 44.37%, the edible portion of javanese Thin Tailed and javanese Fat Tailed were 75.34% and 70.90% and the inedible portion were 14.66% and 29.10%, respectively.
