Abstract: The use of bamboo as an alternative material of building increasingly widespread, i.e. house construction utilisation, tent, stage or some tools. Bamboo has relatively better strength properties than wood should be one contributing factor. Bamboo also has a relatively light weight because its has a cavity, so it will be easier to process. Futhermore, connecting bamboo has some constraints and required special expertise. Connector from Poly Vinil Choloride (PVC) has been expected better advantage compare than rope in bamboo connection. None has been using paralon for connecting devices on bamboo, then it is necessary to do research in the bamboo culm. PVC connector testing of physical properties include moisture content, density, and shrinkage, while testing the mechanical properties include bending test and compression test. The results showed that the strength of PVC connector has a better value 48% than the rope connector which is 276,45 kg/cm . MOE and MOR values of paralon as connector also have the respectively 66,7% which are 3069,63 kg/cm2 and 385,50 kg/cm2.
