| dc.description.abstract | Acacia mangium is a fast-growing plant species with its CO2 absorption rate for photosynthesis is higher than other species. Estimation of biomass and carbon accumulation of this fast growing plants was conducted using Landsat-5 TM year 2000 and 2009 on BKPH Parung Panjang KPH Bogor. Estimation of carbon stock of the surface planted by Acacia mangium was conducted by extracting values of the radiation variables reflected by plant canopy and captured by Landsat-5 TM satellite sensors. It was found that NDVI and LAI has positively correlated with a significant correlation coefficient. Biomass and carbon stored in the forest is estimated through estimating LAI using the radiation Beer-Lambert Law. It was found that potential carbon stock of Acacia mangium are 6.05 to 23.33 (ton/ha) and 5.70 to 26.47 (ton/ha) for 2000 and 2009 with a total amount of carbon reserves 57,388 ton and 57,127 ton respectively. It was concluded that the approach are feasible and can be used for other type of canopy cover. | en |
