Identifikasi Keselamatan Kerja Nelayan pada Aktivitas Payang di Palabuhanratu, Sukabumi Jawa Barat

Abstract

The study aimed to describe the fishing activity of the boat seine also to identify the potential hazard or the working risk on the operating of the boat seine in Palabuhanratu. A case study of safety was used on one of the boat seines in Palabuhanratu. Descriptive analysis was used to describe the activities of pre-operation, operation process until post-operation process of the boat seine. Detail description included of the fishing unit and the fishing activity on the boat seine fishery. Job safety analysis (JSA) was used to examine the working method and to determine the potential hazards at every step of the boat seine activity. Based on the result, it was known that the activity of the operation of the boat seine consisted of 13 events, which was divided into 3 stages. The first was pre-operation, which were from preparation on the fishing base, transfer to the ship, sailing to the fishing ground and the gear preparation. The second was operation process, which were setting and hauling the fishing gear. The third was post-operation, which were handling the catch, sailing towards the harbor and then transferring the equipment and the catch from the ship to the dock. JSA analysis result showed that the risk arising was the category of accident which were not severe, severe and very severe. The risk caused by the lack of safety equipment, the tool operation and the skill of the boat seine fisherman. Identified potential hazards at payang activity is 92% in the minor accident class category. Potential hazards in accident class category have a percentage of 8% and the percentage of severe accident class category is 0%. The risks of potential hazards in boat seine operation are caused by the lack of safety equipment, tools and fishermen skills.
