Abstract: The aim of this research was to compare the head size and shape of thin-tailed sheep (domba ekor tipis or DET), batur, wonosobo, and garut sheep (fighting and meat types). The variables measured were akrokranion-prosthion (X1), basion-prosthion (X2), mandibular (X3), head height (X4), facial tuber (X5), nasion-rhinion (X6), entorbitale (X7), euryon (X8), supraorbitale (X9). There were 111 heads of local sheep that used in research (32 rams and 79 ewes). Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, T2-Hotelling and principal component analysis. Differences of head size surface among breeds were found in this experiment. The head size discrimination of the DET and garut meat type was basion-prosthion, since the eigen vektors are +0912 and +0928, respectively. The head size discrimination of the batur and wonosobo sheep was akrokranion-prosthion that their eigen vektors are +0969 and +0902 respectively. The head shape discrimination of DET, wonosobo and garut meat type were mandibular which those eigen vektors are +0904, +0836, and +0965 respectively. The head shape discrimination of Batur sheep was head height with the value of eigen vektor is +0907. The head size and shape discriminations on garut fighting type sheep was head hight with eigen vektor values are +0905 and -0406. Data clustered between garut fighting and meat types was separated. It also happened between batur sheep and wonosobo sheep. Overlaping data was found on DET, garut fighting-type, wonosobo and batur sheep.
