dc.description.abstractThe aim of this study was to determine the species of lice and its distribution, and also the effect of cypermethrin as insecticide against the lice in poultry layers. This research was conducted on October 2010 in six phase i.e. searching and collecting lice from a infested layers, identifiying the species of lice, counting the number of infested lice, determining the concentration of insecticide, applicating the insecticide (dipping) and observing the effect of insecticide. The result showed that the lice species found in layer was Menopon gallinae (100%). Base on the region of infestations, the highest distribution of the lice was found in breast region (92.5%). By dipping application, the cypermethrin was effective for killing the lice in the concentration of 0.01 g/L (the mortality rate ≥90%).en
