Abstract: Hybridization between female camouflage grouper Epinephelus microdon and male giant grouper Epinphelus lanceolatus has been developed to obtain new strain with superior performance. Evaluation of phenotype and genotype of hybrid grouper through analysis profile of RAPD (Randomly Amplified Polymorphic DNA) with primer UBC 158 and UBC 456 and performance based on tolerance to diferent salinity treatment 10, 20 and 30 ppt. RAPD analysis showed the genetic similarity of profile “Tiktang” grouper was closer relationship to the male giant grouper with similarity index 0,9760. The response to salinity showed that treatment of the 10 ppt had lower growth than 20 ppt and 30 ppt (p< 0,05).
Hibridisasi antara spesies ikan kerapu batik (Epinephelus microdon) betina dan ikan kerapu kertang (E. lanceolatus) jantan terus dikembangkan untuk memperoleh strain baru dengan performa unggul. Evaluasi genotipe dan fenotipe ikan kerapu hibrid dilakukan dengan analisis profil RAPD (Randomly Amplified Polymorphic DNA) menggunakan primer UBC 158 dan UBC 456 dan uji performa berdasarkan toleransi terhadap perbedaan salinitas 10, 20 dan 30 ppt pada beberapa karakter fenotipe. Analisis profil RAPD kerapu hibrid “Tiktang” menunjukan kekerabatan yang lebih dekat dengan ikan kerapu kertang jantan dengan indeks kemiripan 0,9760. Respon salinitas terhadap fenotipe pertumbuhan menunjukan bahwa perlakuan 10 ppt lebih rendah dibandingkan 20 dan 30 ppt (p<0,05).
