Abstract: One of the main problems at several cities in developing countries is air pollution, for example is Jakarta. The biggest source of air pollution comes from the transportation sector. The increasing number of motor vehicle every year in Jakarta will increase the air pollution. The parameters of gas pollutant from motor vehicle are dust particulate < 10μm (PM10), carbon monoxide (CO) and nitric oxide (NO). The Car Free Day Program (CFD) is held to recovery the air quality. The goal of this research are analyzing the trend of pollutant concentration, analyzing air quality at Jakarta from the Air Quality Index (AQI) and studying the impact of CFD program based on pollutant concentration & meteorology factor in Jakarta from 2006 to 2009. This research is conducted by using continued data perception result of air ambient, sampling the air at some location where CFD was held, and then compare the result with data perception from mobile station on workday, holiday and by the time CFD was held. According to the perception from 2006 to 2008, the air quality of the roadway in Jakarta can be categorized as “Good” for 45 days in 2006, 73 days in 2007 and 148 days int 2008. This result show the increase of air quality in Jakarta. The concentration of PM10, CO, and NO parameter had been lower during CFD, compared to workdays. The decreasing level of pollutant concentration during CFD in 2009 are 38%, 63%, and 71% for PM10, CO and NO respectively. The correlation between PM10 parameter with the wind speed is -0,737 – 0,919. The correlation between CO parameter with the wind speed is -0,054 – 0,512. Meanwhile, the correlation between NO parameter with the wind speed is -0,11 – 0,856. The result of this research indicates that the CFD program helps recovering the air condition of roadway in Jakarta especially at M.H. Thamrin street and Jend. Sudirman street.
