| dc.description.abstract | Progressive download or HTTP-streaming is a method of sending a file (audio or video) via web server. Progressive download combines the advantages of streaming mode and download mode in terms of time and bandwidth. Progressive download inherets the benefits of download in term of bit-rate utilization and the benefits of streaming in terms of time utilization. It allows the download at much lower bit-rate than the streaming mode and much shorter waiting time than the download mode. Another advantage of progressive download does not require a special streaming server. This research is using video bitrate and buffer as test parameters. Sizes of the video bit-rate are 256 kbps, 512 kbps, 768 kbps and 1024 kbps and the buffer sizes are 1 second, 2 seconds, 3 seconds, 4 seconds, and 5 seconds. Buffer size is set on the media player used by the client. The experiment result shows that the network environment that is needed to support optimum progressive download which has video resolution 640 x 480 pixel are 256 kbps of bitrate and 3 seconds of buffer. | en |
