Abstract: | Providing of feed plays an important role on a farm and holds 60%-70% on production costs. Farmers take effort to provide feed for their farm, as example on Ciampea. Ciampea has acidic soil. That is called latosol soil. Latosol is acidic soil, poor nutrient contents, and can be toxic if it contents high Al and Fe. The method for recondition the soil is by application of limestone (dolomite). Dolomite [CaMg(CO3)2] is limestone containing calcium and magnesium. This research aimed to determine and to compare the effect of applying three level dolomite to productivity and quality of king grass and Taiwan grass on latosol soil. The design of the experiment was Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with factorial pattern (2 x 3) and three replications. Factor 1 is grass types: king grass and taiwan grass and factor 2 is level of dolomite: 0 ton/ha (D0), 12.5 tons/ha (D1), and 25 tons/ha (D3). The data were analyzed by using SPSS 16. The results showed that interaction between types of grass and dolomite were significantly affected the productivity and the quality (P<0.01) of grass. King grasss has the highest productivity and magnesium. Taiwan grass has the highest vertical height and calcium. Moreover, applying dolomite significantly affected the productivity and the quality of king grass and Taiwan grass. |
