| Abstract: | This research was conducted to understand the effect of kapok seed meal (KSM) on digestive enzyme activily ofjuvenile white shrimp. Trcatment used in this str:dy was divided to 0% kapok seed meal (A), 10% kapok seed meal @), 20% kapok seed meal (C), 30% kapok seed meal (C) and 40% kapok seed meal (D) for 14 days culhrre period, meanwhile the obsewed pammetersw ere enz),mea ctivity of proteasel,i pase and amylase,a ccumulationo f feed consumed and the suwival ftte. Enzyme activity as well as th€ accumulation of feed consumed was calculated every day on each sample, while the sudival rate was calculated at tle end of the cultue period. The results show that by given KSM 10%,20%, 30%. And 4 0 %, enzymea ctivity of protease, lipase and amylase can be reduced; an increasing of KSM in feed would decrease the activity of these three enzymes. The addition of KSM in feed could reduce feed palatability, indicated by a decrcasing amount of feed consumed. This decreasing enzyre activity which caused by increasing levels of KSM content in the feed will reduce the survival rate of shrimp, and therefore, the higher the content of KSM the lower survival rate of shrimp. |
