Abstract: Video streaming is a real-time application that is sensitive to delays. Some methods like Differentiated Service (DiffServ), Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP), and Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) header compression are used to ensure Quality of Service (QoS) of the network to work well. The purpose of this research is to analyze the performance of RSVP and RTP header compression for video streaming. RSVP enables the receiver of a traffic flow to make the resource reservations necessary to ensure that the receiver obtains the desired QoS for the traffic flow. RTP header compression compresses the RTP header which consists of the combined Internet Protocol (IP), User Datagram Protocol (UDP) and RTP segments. Routing protocol is one of the important things to maintain communication within network. The routing protocol used in this research is Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP). Streaming ran in unicast using the on-demand streaming method. Test was conducted by using actual devices, i.e., five CISCO router 2620XM that is connected by serial cables with a small topology. This research analyzes the performance of RSVP and RTP header compression based on packet loss, throughput, delta and jitter. The result shows that RSVP and RTP header compression are capable of improving the performance of the network for video streaming. RSVP is better than RTP Header compression and works even better while those two methods are integrated.
