Abstract: Adolescent with good academic achievement not necessarily had good emotional intelligence also. Emotional intelligence could be developed through the pattern of parental emotional style that were carried out by parents. The objective of the research was to analyze parental emotional style, emotional intelligence, and student’s academic achievement at human ecology faculty Bogor agricultural university. This research used cross sectional study design with proportional random sampling method that involved 77 students of the human ecology faculty. Results of the research showed parental emotional style was negatively correlatte with family size. Woman’s emotional intelligence was higher than men’s. Father’s parental emotional style was positively correlated with self regulation and empathy. Mother’s parental emotional style was positively correlated with empathy. Father’s occupation was positively correlated with adolescent’s self-regulation and mother’s occupation was negatively correlated with adolescent’s self-awareness. Parental emotional style was positively correlated with emotional intelligence. Parental emotional style and emotional intelligence did not have significant relationship with student’s academic achievement.
Remaja dengan prestasi akademik baik belum tentu memiliki kecerdasan emosional yang baik pula. Kecerdasan emosional dapat dikembangkan melalui gaya pelatih emosi yang dilakukan orang tua. Penelitian ini secara umum bertujuan untuk menganalisis gaya pelatih emosi, kecerdasan emosional, dan prestasi akademik mahasiswa Fakultas Ekologi Manusia Institut Pertanian Bogor. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain cross sectional study dengan metode proporsional random sampling yang melibatkan 77 mahasiswa Fakultas Ekologi Manusia (FEMA). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan gaya pelatih emosi berhubungan negatif besar keluarga. Kecerdasan emosional remaja perempuan lebih baik dari remaja laki-laki. Gaya pelatih emosi ayah berhubungan positif signifikan dengan penagturan diri dan empati. Gaya pelatih emosi ibu berhubungan positif dengan empati. Ayah yang bekerja berhubungan positif signifikan dengan pengaturan diri remaja dan ibu yang bekerja berhubungan negatif signifikan dengan kesadaran diri remaja. Gaya pelatih emosi juga berhubungan positif signifikan dengan kecerdasan emosional. Gaya pelatih emosi dan kecerdasan emosional tidak berhubungan dengan prestasi akademik mahasiswa.
