Abstract: The development of palm oil plantations in Indonesia has increased rapidly since 1980. The forests were often converted into palm oil plantations. Several impacts resulted from the conversion of these forests included the loss or disruption of wildlife habitat which eventually led to conflict between humans and wildlife. Wildlife relocation was valued as tool for conflict resolution. However wildlife relocation was being challenged by various parties because it was not considered as the best solution and many of relocations programs that were unsuccessful. The succesful of wildlife relocation could be improved through (1) rigorous checking for the appropriateness of the approach; (2) clearer definitions of success; (3) constant monitoring of success; (4) better financial accountability (5) publication of results.
