| Abstract: | Most industries produce sludge from water treatment through clarifier unit. In this study, the waste was used as raw material for making compost. Composting was done by addition of grass and cow dung to lower the high ratio of C/N in the sludge. Ratios of sludge with: grass: cow dung to get the optimum C/N ratio were, 70:20:10, 70:5:25 and 55:25:20 and the were applied to grow spinach. The results showed all three compositions generally met the SNI 19-7030-2004. Application of the compost to spinach plants gave the best with the ratio of 70:5:25. Therefore, the composted sludge can be used as raw material for compost and applicable to the spinach plants. Sebagian besar industri menghasilkan limbah sludge dari pengolahan air yang dilakukan melalui proses clarifier. Pada penelitian ini, limbah tersebut akan dijadikan bahan baku pembuatan pupuk kompos. Pengomposan dilakukan dengan menambahkan rumput dan kotoran sapi untuk menurunkan nisbah C/N yang tinggi dalam sludge. Nisbah sludge:rumput:kotoran sapi yang digunakan untuk mendapatkan nisbah nilai C/N yang optimum ialah, 70:20:10, 70:5:25, dan 55:25:20 yang akan diaplikasikan pada tanaman bayam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ketiga nisbah kompos yang dihasilkan secara umum telah memenuhi standar SNI 19-7030-2004. Aplikasi kompos terhadap tanaman bayam memberikan hasil terbaik pada kompos dengan nisbah 70:5:25. Sludge hasil pengomposan dapat digunakan sebagai bahan baku pupuk kompos dan diaplikasikan pada tanaman bayam. |
