Abstract: The World Health Organization states that in 2008 more than 7.6 million new death of cancer. Noni is one of the many herbs found that can will cure cancer, but its use has not been efficiently. Nanocapsulation of chitosan is one alternative to improve efficiency of utilization of noni extract. Noni extract was obtained by maceration method with water as solvent. Nanocapsule of noni extract was made using ionic gelation method by magnetic stirrer with speed of 1500 rpm and the results were characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), Particle Size Analyzer (PSA), and X-ray Difraction (XRD). Results obtained in the analysis of FTIR showed that nanocapsule extract contained clusters chitosan and noni extract in nanocapsule. PSA test showed that nanocapsule size was 192.03 nm. XRD test showed that nanocapsule noni extract has a crystalinity of 34.83%. Cytotoxicity (biological potency) nanocapsule was 1.843 ppm. Nanocapsule also tested using digestion enzyme and the results obtained showed that nanocapsule hydrolyzed at nine minutes. Nanocapsule was then tested using lung cancer cells. Results obtained showed that at concentration of 0.5 ppm nanocapsule can inhibit cancer cell proliferation in 4.38%.
Badan Kesehatan Dunia (WHO) tahun 2008 menyatakan bahwa sebanyak 7.6 juta orang meninggal akibat kanker. Mengkudu merupakan salah satu tumbuhan herbal yang banyak dijumpai yang bisa mengobati kanker akan tetapi pemanfaatannya belum efisien. Nanokapsulasi dari kitosan merupakan salah satu alternatif peningkatkan efisiensi pemanfaatan ekstrak mengkudu. Ekstrak mengkudu didapat dengan metode maserasi dengan pelarut air. Nanokapsulasi ekstrak mengkudu dibuat dengan metode gelasi ionik menggunakan magnetic stirrer (pengaduk magnetik) dengan kecepatan 1500 rpm lalu hasilnya dikarakterisasi dengan Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), Particle Size Analyzer (PSA), dan X-ray Difraction (XRD). Hasil yang diperoleh berdasarkan analisis FTIR adalah terdapat gugus kitosan dan ekstrak mengkudu dalam nanokapsul. Hasil uji PSA menunjukkan ukuran nanokapsul sebesar 192.03 nm. Hasil uji XRD menunjukkan bahwa nanokapsul ekstrak mengkudu memiliki kristalinitas 34.83%. Sitotoksitas (uji potensi hayati) nanokapsul adalah 1.843 ppm. Nanokapsul lalu diuji menggunakan enzim pencernaan, hasil yang didapat menunjukkan bahwa nanokapsul terhidrolisis pada menit ke sembilan. Nanokapsul ekstrak mengkudu diuji menggunakan sel kanker paru-paru (A549), didapatkan hasil konsentrasi 0.5 ppm dapat menghambat proliferasi sel kanker secara signifikan sebesar 4.38%.
