dc.description.abstractThe effectiveness of a television program such as reality show program, “Jika Aku Menjadi” which is broadcast by Trans TV, can be known from the public perception about the program. The objectives of this research are: (1) to determine the exposure level of JAM program; (2) to assess public perception about JAM program and to identify the packaging criteria that determine public perception about JAM program; and (3) to analyze the factors associated with the public perception of JAM program. This research has been conducted by using quantitative and qualitative method at Trans TV and Bogor Agricultural University (BAU) campus on May – June 2010. The respondents involved in this research were about 76 people from the total population who were selected through stratified random sampling. The data have been analyzed by using Chi Square test and Spearman Rank Correlation, supported by SPSS Program for Windows version 17.0. The results of this research show that the exposure level of JAM Program to its audience is low due to the low frequency of watching among respondents. In addition to this fact, the public perception of JAM program on Trans TV, is less well assessed based on this research. The story content revealed as the most decisive perception criteria of broadcasting program on the television. The intrinsik and extrinsic factors of audience, have no tangible connection with the perception formation process of JAM program. In the other hand, the exposure of JAM program is known to has a significant correlation with the perception of JAM program.en
