Abstract: Di-(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP) is additive plasticizer in production of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles which is commonly used for bottling. DEHP is carcinogenic and the Environmental of Protection Agency has established a maximum admissible concentration (MAC) in water of 6μg/L for DEHP. Its migration into drinking water contained in PET botles was vanalyzed according to the type of preservative used, temperature, and refilling the used of PET bottles. The result showed the level of DEHP migration for mineral water was 11.248 ppb, to soft drink preserved with Na-benzoate was 12.052 ppb, to soft drink contained antioxidant and preserved with a combination of Na-benzoate and K-sorbate were lower than 2 ppb. The level of DEHP migration After heated at 32 ºC for three hours decreased to 86 and 96.3% for mineral water and soft drink preserved with Na-benzoate, respectively. Soft drink preserved with a combination of Na-benzoate and K-sorbate increased the level of DEHP migration after heated until 300% and from lower than 2 ppb to 3.856 ppb for soft drink contained antioxidant. The sample of water used to refill the used PET bottle and preserved with Na-benzoate showed the highest level of DEHP migration (14.748 ppb). However, in other samples DEHP was not detected. To determine the concentration of DEHP in water sample, standardized addition methode should be used because it has better linear correlation than external calibration methode.
