Evaluation of user’s satisfaction on online union catalog at The National Library of Indonesia

Abstract

The International Standard Organisation (ISO) Technical Report (TR) – 28118: Information and documentation – Performance indicators for national libraries in 2009 item A.2 of the national library service catalog in a country mentioned that the national library of a country should publish national bibliographies in a catalog as soon as possible as well as with the publication of a new collection. It can only be done in electronic form known an online catalog. In Indonesia, the National Library of Indonesia has developed an online union catalog (http://kin.pnri.go.id) since 2008. However, it showed very low utilization. By using the guidelines based on ISO 9241-11: Guidance On Usability, this evaluation concluded that the satisfaction of the online union catalog users nationwide have met the basic needs on searching information in the library of a country, although it needs to improve the web interface and dissemination/ socialization of national online union catalog so that it known by the public.
