In a good environmental condition and adequate quantity of food, an increase of stocking density will increase yield. This experiment was aimed to obtain information about the most optimum stocking density of redfin nursery culture. The initial size of redfin fry was 2.22±0.21 cm in length and 0.11±0.06 g in weight, which was obtained from a redfin farmer at Pagelaran, Dramaga, Bogor, West Java. Prior to experiment, the fry was adapted in the aquaria with a size of 30x20x20 cm3 which had been filled with 5 ℓ of water. The fry was then cultured at 4 different stocking density treatments. 2, 3, 4, 5 fry/ℓ with 3 replications for a period of 30 days. The fry was fed by Oligochaeta twice a day at satiation. Culture water was exchanged twice a day in the morning and on the afternoon with a rate depended on the stocking density; 40%/day, 60%/day, 80%/day and 100%/day, respectively. Stocking density significantly affected fish survival, specific grow rate, growth of absolute length and coefficient of variation (p<0.05) with 2 fry/ℓ density treatment resulted in the best production performance.en
