Abstract: | The research aimed to study the effects of Benzyladeninepurine (BAP) and coconut water by induces producing shoots from mother stems of pineapple (Ananas comosus L. Merr). The research was used Pasir Kuda-1 clone as planting materials. It was conducted at Pasir Kuda Research Farm at Bogor Agricultural University from January to June 2010. Method of this research was based on a completely block randomized design, consisted of one factor and three repetitions. The factor was the BAP concentration (0, 25, 50, 100 ppm) and coconut water. The stems of mother plant were sliced and soaked in solution of BAP and coconut water, and then they were raised in a husk charcoal media for several weeks until the shoots force out from lateral buds. These shoots were maintained in a secondary nursery until they reach the transplanting maturity. The shoots begin force out from lateral bud after two weeks and allowed to grow on stem cuttings until it has enough size for transplanting in secondary nursery. The data were analyzed by F test and significantly different results were tested further using Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at 5% level. Variables observed at seeding stage are percentage of life cuttings, percentage of cuttings sprouted up, and shoots per cutting, while in the seedling stage are shoot high, shoot weight, leaf length, leaf width, and number of leaves. Harvesting was done gradually by four times and made observations of the quality of shoots produced at each harvest. The result showed that the treatment of BAP concentration and coconut water did not significantly affect to all of variables in primary nursery, such as percentage of live cuttings, percentage of cuttings sprouted up, and shoots per cuttings. Treatment also did not significantly affect in secondary nursery, except the number of leaves on shoots that are harvested first at 6 weeks after transplantation. The repetition based on planting material had significant effect on shoot height, leaf length, number of leaf, and weight of shoots. Time of harvesting also affected the quality of shoots produced. Harvesting with good quality of shoots was able until 16 week after plant period. The number of shoots height, shoots weight, leaf width, leaf length and leaf number decreased while the shoots harvested after those period. |
