Abstract: Rainfall information is an important component in meteorological studies. While the availability of rainfall data nowadays is not easy to be accessed yet. Many researchers use interpolation method to obtain the rainfall data. Data resulted from interpolation or downscaling method sometimes less represent the actual rainfall happening on the surface. Therefore, this study aimed to get the character of rainfall in several watershed areas in Western Java by using rainfall data analysis method based on watershed, altitude, and distance between stations. The rainfall character in Western Java based on river area and watershed could be seen from the characteristics of the data in each station where the rainfall data from year to year had large variability, and from the characteristics of the data between stations showed a strong relation with the maximum correlation value and p-value >0.05 to the accumulation of rainfall data in 30-days. The character formed by the altitude variation of station showed that there wasn’t a clear effect of altitude to rainfall yet. Factors affecting rainfall were dominated by the station location which situated on the windward side and near coastal areas. Based on the distance between stations, ratio of the distance to the rainfall difference percentage in the lowland either in the sea near the coast or the inland area indicated a trend of raising in rainfall percentage difference due to the addition of the distance between stations. However, stations located in the mountainous region showed a trend of reduction in rainfall percentage due to the distance addition between stations.
