| Abstract: | Mung bean sprouts waste is a waste of vegetables that are available in traditional market everyday. Using of fresh mung bean sprouts waste had several problems i.e., perishable and bulky. Its couse mung bean sprouts waste could not be stored for long periods and had large space for storage. The aim of this study was to assess the mung bean sprouts waste utilized in sheep ration. This study used complete ration that consisted of nature grass, mung bean sprouts waste, pollard, copra meal, molasses and urea. The study was divided into two experiments, first experiment was to assessment the nutritional quality of complete rations in vivo used sheeps. A complete randomized design with four various form of complete ration and three sheeps as replication in each of treatment was used in this experiment. Complete rations were given in fresh condition (R1), mash form (R2), pellet form (R3) and wafer form (R4). The parameters observed were feed consumption, body weight gain, feed efficiency, digestibility of dry matter and organic matter. The result of this study showed that digestibility of dry matter and organic matter do not significant differences. Feed consumption of sheeps fed by complete ration in pellet form (R3) was higher (P<0,05) than sheeps fed by fresh condition (R1) and mash form(R2). Body weight gain and feed efficiency of sheeps fed by complete ration in pellet form (R3) was higher (P<0,05) than other form. Second experiment was studied the effect of storage time in various physical forms. A completely randomized factorial design with 3 form of complete ration (mash, pellet and wafer) and 3 long time storage (0, 1 and 2 month) with three replications was used in this experiment. The observed variables include observations of moisture content, water activity and insect attack. The result of this study showed that moisture content had interaction (P<0,05) between form of complete ration and time of storage. Complete ration that storage for two month had water activity higher (P<0,05) than 0 and 1 month of storage. Insect attack to complete ration in pellet form that storage in one month was higher than other form in two month and same long time storage. Complete ration containing mung bean sprouts waste in pellet form that stored in one month had water content, water activity and insect attack can be tolerance. Feed consumption, body weigh gain, feed efficiency of complete ration containing mung bean sprouts waste in pellet form was higest. |
