Abstract: Effective and efficien utilization of tin sand tailing requires development of destruction method. Destruction method was developed by using NaOH at high temperature and followed by hydrometallurgy extraction. At destruction stage, amount NaOH, temperature, and destrusction time were varied. An optimum destruction was obtained at 600 ºC for 1 hour with tailing:NaOH ratio of 1:2. At hydrometallurgy extraction, solvent was chosen and continued by volume, temperature, and time optimitations. HCl solvent could perfectly dissolved tin sand tailing. The Optimum condition for dissolving 1 gram solid phase from the destruction process reached at 150 ºC during 2 hours by using 30 mL HCl. With this method, rare earth elements could dissolved 90-100%.
