dc.description.abstractBogor Agriculture University (IPB) has implemented internet network technology to support education. This study aims to determine patterns of IPB internet network service usage based on application protocols that are accessible through the network and the composition of websites that are frequently visited by IPB academic community. The data used in this study is IPB internet traffic, which were obtained through measurements using Wireshark. The first results show that the observed application protocol traffic has a proportion as follows: HTTP is 87.41%, SSL protocol is 11.27%, FTP protocol is 0.09%, FTP-data protocol is 0.66%, and SMTP merged with POP is 0,57%. HTTP is the most popular protocol used in IPB network. The other results of this study also show the composition of websites visited by IPB academic community. The portion for commercial website is 88.35%, where as the portion for the website that supports educational process is 8.15%. We also obtained information that IPB internet users access to pornography sites at 1.4%. Therefore efforts need to be made to increase the use of IPB internet network services for education.en
