Abstract: This research aims to identify potential sites for Marine Protected Area in Karang Lebar and Karang Congkak. Seribu Islands, utilizing Formosat satellite data, field survey, and spatial ul/u/nis lIsing cell-based modeling method. Parameters applied for effective design of MPA \I.:.'re ope of substrates, number of species and indil"iduals of reeffish, depth, also distance towards transportation patmvays and community residences. All of them were stored in raster format ofgeographic information system package. Spatial analyses for raster data using cell based modeling was based on its advantage in modeling areas include the V,laters ofthe basic substrate. the number ofspecies ofreeffish, reeffish abundance, depth, distance from the cruise lines, and the dis lance from Ihe location ofthe study. Of all the parameters that can then be spatial and raster-based spatial analisis. Spatial analysis in raster data is the foulldmion of Cell Bmed }",fodeling.
