Abstract

The number of Payang in 2011 has decreased 12,96% from 2010, but the catch was increased 69,21% in sometime. Sari (2011) showed that financial of payang operational in Palabuhanratu waters is losses. Many question for this conditions, is this gives some benefit to fishermen, how the prosperity rate of Payang fishermen and how the working time allocation. The objective of this research is to describe the Payang unit in PPN Palabuhanratu, counting the working time allocation of Payang fishermen in the fishing and non-fishing activity, and counting the prosperity rate of Payang fishermen. The method was surveys method with kind the case study. The data analyzed by techniqal analysis, description of working time and the prosperity. The Payang construction consist of wings, body, cod end, ropes, floats and sinkers. Payang is operated by 8-23 fishermen. Fishing vessels material from wood and fiber. Fishing vessel dimention is L = 10,4-12 m, B = 1,5-3 m and D = 0,7-1,8 m. The working time of labours more than owners. The time of fishing activities of the labours more than non-fishing activities. The owner has high prosperity rate, but the labour has medium prosperity rate (40%).
