Abstract: | The common carp has been introduced in salinity water. This situation faced some problem with time of production and slow growth. The effect of salinity on production and pathology of common carp were studied for 56 days. Fish were exposed to 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 ppt of salinity. The experiment showed that salinity significantly effected to decreasing growth rate and food consumption biside the mortality of fish is increasing. Clinical sign and pathology anatomy of common carp at 2 ppt and 4 ppt have good response as control. The opposite with concentration 6 ppt until 12 ppt showed osmoregulator organ (gill, kidney and intestine) of common carp with swollen, watery, and pale color. Result of Histopathological showed that salinity at 2 ppt until 12 ppt effected to injury of osmoregulator organ which showed hyperplasia, edema, congestion, degeneration and necrotic cell. There was significantly difference (p<0.05) in growth rate, food consumption, mortality of the fish and histopathological lesions. Base on all findings, we concluded that increasing the salinity level causes increase the mortality and histopathological lesions also decrease growth rate and food consumption. PONTJO PRIOSOERYANTO dan DANIEL DJOKOSETIYANTO. Ikan mas (Cyprinus carpio) sebagai salah satu ikan yang dibudidayakan mempunyai potensi besar untuk mensuplai kebutuhan konsumsi. Untuk memenuhi kebutuhan konsumsi ikan mas maka dilakukan peningkatan produksi budidaya ikan dengan cara intensifikasi. Intensifikasi budidaya ini seringkali diikuti dengan menurunnya daya dukung lingkungan pada media tumbuh (air) yang ditandai dengan adanya Low Dissolved Oxygen Syndrom (LODOS) dan proses sedimentasi dari buangan sisa pakan dan kotoran ikan yang berlebihan. Salah satu alternatif lahan dengan mutu lingkungan yang lebih baik adalah dengan pemanfaatan lahan marjinal (bekas tambak dengan salinitas 0 – 12 ppt) untuk budidaya ikan mas. |
