The morphometric geometry technique or known as Thine Plate Spile I()\ (TPS) is a method to observe the face variation of human, animal and plant. Using ~ the applicable method, the bataknese face variation could be detennined, in which ;: the bataknese face in north Sumatera consists of several sub tribes. The sampling ~ 101 people of each male and female of sub Toba-bataknese and sub Angkola"[ bataknese was collected. The bataknese distribution was generally located in two ~ sites; first in in northern Tapanuli for sub Toba-bataknese and second in southern =. Tapanuli and in Padang for sub Angkola-bataknese. AU pictures of the front and ~ side face were undertaken by digital camera and then digitated anatomically by ~ putting 26 dots of the front face and 16 dots of side face. The TPSRel W was used ~ to obtain the concession of face anatomy and utilized the R-software to make the ~ face grouping in dendrogram. To find the defonnation grid of the face structure [ was used TPSSpline and to observe the face variation was applied the TPSSuper. "'C The result showed that the male face variation tended to be similar to front face of ~ sub Toba-and Angkola-bataknese, while three groups for side face of both ~. bataknese were found. For female face, it showed that in sub Toba-bataknese ~ there are four groups of the front face and three groups of the side face. In sub &' Angkola-bataknese, female face showed that three groups were observed in both <g faces, but there are still several faces could not be grouped in the group .en
