dc.description.abstractAgropolitan is a concept of agricultural development based on regional dimension which optimizes local potential resources and increases local competitive advantages. However, agropolitan development has some obstacles to be implemented such as no coordination and cooperation between stakeholder. The purpose of this study was to establish agroindustry based agropolitan concept. Through system approach, the intelligent decision support system (DSS) developed in this research was to support the implementation of market and material driven agropolitan development. The intelligent DSS was also able to define and delineate spatially the agropolitan area where agriculture had a most contribution to mean of support and welfare of local residents. Meanwhile, within its agropolitan center, the agroindustry could increase agriculture added value to support agropolitan implementation and its sustainibility. The model has been tested at Kabupaten Probolinggo and showed that corn, mango, onion and potato were best commodities within the region and corn based ethanol was highest priority product. Ethanol agroindustry was designed with capacity of 30 milion gallons per year that feasible to be established. As a stucture and infrastructure of supporting agropolitan based on agroindustry, it was recommended to develop market and road. Considering medium level of existing human resource and infrastructure condition, vertical integrated institution has been selected as an appropriate institution model in agroindusty based agropolitan.en
