Abstract: Marginal land has been increasing lately due to improper forest land use. Therefore, the productivity of these lands must be restored through forest rehabilitation. One of the rehabilitation programs is manipulation of the environment in the utilization of litter forest and their microorganism. This study aims to screening of litter forest molds of IPBCC (Institut Pertanian Bogor Culture Collection) collection as Indo/e-3-Acetic Acid (1M) producers and their tolerance to acid conditions. The ability of fifty-one litter forest molds from Katingan and Tarakan to produce IAA was screened using Czapek Dox medium and was determined by Patten and Glick method with Salkowski reagent. The litter forest molds from Katingan produced 1M (2.73±0.39 ppm) higher than those of Tarakan (1 .08 ± 0.14 ppm). Three out of fifty Katingan's molds were selected for 1M production, those were Acremonium sp. IPBCC 07.548 (7.83±0.16 ppm), Gliocladium deliquescens IPBCC 07.543 (6,96±0.18 ppm), and PeniciJIium notalum IPBCC 07.555 (7.20±0.11 ppm). 1M and its biomass production were influenced by pH of the medium. These litter forest molds were considered to be acid tolerance. The pH optimum for their growth and 1M production were 5,5. The 1M production from these molds in consortium (8.34±0.65 ppm) were better than its monoculture (3,83±1 ,06 ppm). High Performance Liquid Chromatography assay indicated that the 1M was a type of 1M with retention time 7,1.
