Abstract: The aims of this research are to study the life-cycle BSF (Black Soldier Fly) at PKM (Palm Karnel Meal) enriched by fish silage, to study abiotic factors influencing the maggot growth, and to study competitor insect for BSF.The life-cycle of BSF is observed from egg, maggot, pupa, till imago produces eggs. The abiotic factors (temperature, pH, humidity) measured along with life-cycle observation. Studying the competitor insect to BSF was carried out by using PKM media, PKM media +BSF eggs, and PKM media+a week-old maggot. Egg-pupa phase of BSF at the PKM enriched with fish silage have done among 25-33 days. Abiotic factors (temperature, pH, humidity) influenced to the time of BSF life-cycle. House flies Musca sp. is the insect competitor to BSF and dominate media when there is no a week-old BSF maggot.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat siklus hidup BSF (Black Soldier Fly) pada BKS (Bungkil Kelapa Sawit) yang diperkaya dengan silase ikan, mempelajari faktor abiotik yang mempengaruhi pertumbuhan maggot, dan mengetahui serangga kompetitor BSF. Siklus hidup hidup BSF diamati dari telur, maggot, pupa, hingga imago dan menghasilkan telur kembali. Pengaruh faktor abiotik (suhu, pH, dan kelembaban) terhadap pertumbuhan maggot dilakukan dengan mengukur ketiga paramater tersebut bersama dengan pengamatan siklus hidupnya. Serangga kompetitor diamati pada bak-bak yang berisi BKS, BKS + telur BSF, dan BKS + maggot BSF berumur 1 minggu. Fase telur-pupa BSF pada media BKS yang ditambah dengan silase ikan berlangsung antara 25-33 hari. Faktor abiotik (suhu, pH, dan kelembaban) memepengaruhi kecepatan siklus hidup BSF. Lalat rumah Musca sp. adalah kompetitor BSF dan menguasai media BKS ketika tidak ada maggot BSF berumur 1 minggu.
