Abstract: The aims of this research was to study the ability of human hair as a soil amelioration in supporting the growth and production of the mung bean (Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek) Kutilang variety. The research was conducted in the plastic house of Riau Dormitory, Margajaya, Bogor. The analysis of plant media was conducted at soil laboratory, Research Center for Soil, Bogor. The research was designed using Complete Random Design (CRD) consist of 8 factors with 3 repeats. The factors given consist of soil plant media (P0), soil and Rhizobium inoculant (P1), soil and compost (P2), soil, compost, Rhizobium inoculant (P3), soil and human hair (P4), soil, human hair, and Rhizobium inoculant(P5), soil, compost, and human hair (P6), soil, compost, human hair, and inoculantRhizobium (P7). The observed parameter was the plant growth included plant height, number of leaves, fresh and dry weight of root and shoot; and plant production parameter included the number of flower, number of pod, number of seed, total of 100 seeds, and dry weight of pod. The result indicated that human hair can increase the cation exchange capacity (CEC) plant media. Giving the compost and human hair influenced obviously of the growth and production of mung bean (Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek) Kutilang variety. Plant media P6 and P7 can economize 40% of the compost usage and there was no significant difference between plant media P2 and P3. Human hair cannot use as a fertilizer, because of the release of the organic unsure slowly from the human hair.
Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menguji kemampuan rambut manusia sebagai pembenah tanah untuk pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman kacang hijau (Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek) varietas Kutilang. Penelitian dilakukan di rumah plastik Asrama Riau, Desa Margajaya, Bogor. Analisis media tanam dilakukan di Laboratorium Tanah, Balai Penelitian Tanah, Bogor. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan percobaan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 8 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan. Perlakuan yang digunakan adalah media tanam tanah (P0), campuran tanah dan inokulan Rhizobium (P1), campuran tanah dan kompos (P2), campuran tanah, kompos dan inokulan Rhizobium (P3), campuran tanah dan rambut manusia (P4), campuran tanah, rambut manusia, dan inokulan Rhizobium(P5), campuran tanah, kompos, dan rambut manusia (P6), campuran tanah, kompos, rambut manusia, dan inokulan Rhizobium (P7). Parameter yang diamati adalah pertumbuhan tanaman meliputi tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, bobot basah akar dan tajuk, bobot kering akar dan tajuk, dan parameter produksi tanaman meliputi jumlah bunga, jumlah polong, jumlah biji, jumlah 100 biji, dan bobot kering polong. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa rambut manusia mampu meningkatkan kapasitas tukar kation (KTK) media tanam. Pemberian kompos dan rambut manusia berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman kacang hijau (Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek) varietas Kutilang. Media tanam P6 dan P7 mampu menghemat penggunaan kompos sebanyak 40% dengan hasil yang tidak berbeda nyata pada media tanam P2 dan P3. Rambut manusia tidak bisa digunakan sebagai pupuk, hal ini disebabkan pelepasan unsur organik dari rambut manusia terjadi secara perlahan.
