Title: Pengaruh Tingkat Penggenangan terhadap Pertumbuhan Semai Bakau (Rhizophora mucronata Lamk.) pada Umur yang Berbeda di Kawasan Ekowisata Mangrove Angke Kapuk, Jakarta Utara

Abstract: Mangroves have high tolerance to the sea water having high salinity (Tomlinson 1986). Rhizophora mucronata represents the type of mangrove plant that has an ability to grow at a higher tidal area than Avicennia sp. and Bruguiera sp. (Kusmana et al. 2005). According to Triswanto (2000), the depth of inundation and age of seedling significantly affected growth response. Therefore, this research was aimed at identifying the effect of degree of inundation on the growth of R. mucronata. Research was conducted on March to June 2011 at the Mangrove Ecotourism area of Angke Kapuk, North Jakarta. The research employed randomized block design with three replicase (blocks of 28 week-old, 12 weekold and 28 week-old seedlings) and three treatments (inundation of up to: 50% of stem length, below canopy and root neck). Primary data consisted of height, diameter, quantity of leaves, quantity of internodes, length of internodes and biomass, while secondary data consisted of climatology data and literature on environmental condition. The data were analized using SAS 9.1.3 Portable. Duncan test showed that blocks significantly affected the growth of R. mucronata on 0.05 degree of freedom. The optimum growth shown by 28 weeksold seedlings inundated up to 50% of the stem length. The average growth off those seedlings were 7.75 mm in stem diameter, 454.21 in stem height, 7 leaves, 5.33 mm length of internodes, 6.18 gram in stem biomass, 9.59 gram in leaves biomass, 13.48 mm per weeks in stem height increment, and 0.23 mm per weeks in stem diameter increment.
Komunitas mangrove memiliki toleransi tinggi terhadap pasang surut air laut dengan tipe tumbuhan yang toleran terhadap garam (Tomlinson 1986). Rhizophora mucronata merupakan jenis tanaman mangrove yang memiliki kemampuan tumbuh di daerah pasang surut tinggi daripada Avicennia sp. dan Bruguiera sp. (Kusmana et al. 2005). Menurut Triswanto (2000), kedalaman air dan umur tanaman berpengaruh nyata terhadap daya toleransi pertumbuhan R. mucronata. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi pengaruh penggenangan terhadap respon pertumbuhan dan menentukan tingkat penggenangan optimal yang mendukung pertumbuhan semai R. mucronata. Penelitian berlangsung pada bulan Maret-Juni 2011 di Kawasan Ekowisata Mangrove Angke Kapuk, Jakarta Utara. Metode yang digunakan berupa Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan tiga replikasi (semai berumur 28 minggu, 12 minggu, dan 8 minggu) dan tiga treatment (tingkat penggenangan sampai batas leher akar, 50% batas batang semai, dan sampai batas tinggi bebas cabang). Data primer berupa respon pertumbuhan tinggi, diameter, jumlah daun, jumlah buku, panjang buku, dan biomassa, sedangkan data sekunder berupa data klimatologi dan kondisi lingkungan mangrove Tol Sedyatmo. Pengolahan data menggunakan analisis statistik SAS 9.1.3 Portable. Berdasarkan hasil analisis statistik, semai R. mucronata (bakau) berumur 28 minggu yang tergenang oleh air masin setinggi setengah dari batang semai menunjukkan respon pertumbuhan yang optimum dibandingkan dengan tingkat penggenangan dan umur semai lainnya yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan, semai bakau tersebut menunjukkan pertumbuhan rata-rata sekitar 7,75 mm diameter batang, 454,21 mm tinggi batang, 7 daun, 5,33 mm panjang buku, 8 buku, 6,18 gram biomassa batang, 9,59 gram biomassa daun, dan riap tinggi mingguan berjalan sekitar 13,48 mm/minggu.
