Abstract: Spiny lobster (Panulirus spp) is a leading marine fishery commodities which have important economic value in the trade in local and international level. Lobster fishing activities is one of the mainstay of fishing operations for fishermen, because the lobster catch minimum quantity and quality of excellence will continue to provide business benefits as well as increased revenue. In Indonesia, fishermen catch lobster with a simple gear and small-scale level of fishing effort. Use of pots for the commercial lobster fishing activity has not been much done, because the pots used by fishermen so far just to catch fish, blue swimming crab and mud crab. This research has been conducted on January to July 2010 by using the method of desk study. Purpose of this study was to examine the development of design and costruction of lobster pots as the basis for efforts to develop effective design. Based on research, has produced two draft design drawings of pots, namely box type of collapsible lobster pot with single side entrance and trapezoidal type of collapsible lobster pot with single top entrance both of which are fitted with trigger entrances.
