Abstract: Until this time, majority of Indonesian farmers plant seeds by using a dibble (conventional method), that needs extra power, more human operators and is ergonomically inefficient. Therefore, a more precision seedling machine is needed to alter the manually seedling process into mechanically seedling process by using seed planter. A seed planter consists of mechanical component and electronic components. The mechanical component includes draft machine, dibble wheels, a supporting wheel, hopper, a metering device , a drainage tube, a fertilizer plot opener, and a covering hole device. The electronic component includes a metering motor, a micro-controller, a magnet sensors, a motor-driver and a electrical power supply. The design methodology used in this research is based on functional and structural design. Moreover, ergonomic values of the designed seed planter are also condidered based on the Indonesian average anthropometries. This dimension of the seed planter is of 130 cm (length) x 100 cm (width) x 90 cm (height) cm. The length of the connecting rod is 110 cm with a wheel diameter of drill 40 cm. The seed storage capacity of the hopper is 3.0 kg. The metering device diameter is 12 cm. The operating capacity of the croping tool is 11.63 hours / ha. The proposed seed planter is designed to be operated by a single human operator with pushing power of 223.71 watts. The enriched feature of the seed planter is precicesness of seeding and and multifunction capabilities (making seed holes, allocating seed & granular pesticide, closing seed holes, producing fertilizing rows).
