Abstract: agroforestry system for the rehabilitation of the degraded peatland fulfilling technically applicable, socially acceptable by the local farmers, economically feasible and environmentally friendly. Primary data of this research were collected via interviews, observations, field visits and focus group discussion (FGD) involving all parties. The research results show that the development of jelutung in agroforestry system was technically applicable, socially acceptable, economically feasible and environmentally friendly for the rehabilitation of peatland degradation. There are 5 certified jelutung seed sources in Central Kalimantan Province that can produce about 126,920,000 seeds per years. The local people’s nursery can produce 1 – 3 million readily planted jelutung seedlings per years. In thin peatland there are 3 agroforestry systems that have already been developed by the local people. In thick peatland, there are 2 agroforestry systems that have already been developed by the local people. Jelutung growth performances on a variety of agroforestry systems show that the annual stem height increment reached 86.55 – 127.94 cm and stem diameter increased 1.56 – 2.15 cm. The analysis results on the social aspect show that in line with the superior non timber forest product criteria and indicators stated in Permenhut RI No. P.21/Menhut-II/2009 jelutung’s latex is categorized as a provincial superior NTFP with Superior Total Value (STV) of 72.62. The economic aspect shows that the marketing margin of jelutung latex is still inefficient as its value is > 50%. The financial analysis results show that jelutung forest is feasible to be developed both in the monocultural and agroforestry patterns. NPV, BCR and IRR of jelutung with agroforestry pattern were 69,799,338; 8.68 and 29% respectively. On the environmental aspect it is known that the diversity of peatland macro-fauna covered with jelutung agroforestry was greater than that covered with monoculture and abandoned land with Shannon Wiener index values of 1.8; 1.,2; 1.69 respectively for PSM method. The chemical analysis of peatland covered by jelutung agroforestry provides the following data: pH=3.94; N total = 0.4%; C organic = 48.58%; C/N = 121.45. The maturity level of peatland covered by jelutung agroforestry is sapric-hemic to hemic, that covered by monoculture is fibrous-hemic to sapric-hemic while the abandoned peatland is dominated by fibrous and fibrous-hemic. The microclimate of peatland covered by jelutung is better than the microclimate of that covered by monoculture or abandoned peatland
Lahan gambut seluas 3.472.000 ha di Provinsi Kalimantan Tengah dikuatirkan tidak mampu lagi memerankan fungsi ekologinya secara optimal, karena upaya yang mengarah kepada perubahan ekosistemnya masih tetap berlangsung. Hal ini ditandai dengan adanya kerusakan lahan gambut yang telah mencapai lebih dari 35%. Kondisi tersebut memerlukan kegiatan rehabilitasi dan penghijauan untuk pemulihannya. Kegiatan tersebut memerlukan pemilihan jenis dan sistem tanam yang tepat. Pada penelitian ini diajukan suatu pemikiran pengembangan jelutung dengan sistem agroforestri pada kegiatan dimaksud. Pengembangan jelutung dengan sistem agroforestri di lahan gambut untuk tujuan rehabilitasi dan penghijauan harus memenuhi syarat, secara teknis dapat diterapkan, secara sosial dapat diterima oleh petani setempat, secara ekonomi menguntungkan dan ramah lingkungan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis pengembangan jelutung dengan sistem agroforestri untuk merehabilitasi lahan gambut terdegradasi yang memenuhi 4 persyaratan di atas. Tahap persiapan penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Desember 2010 dan bulan Januari 2011. Tahap pelaksanaan penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Februari – Juli 2011. Tahap penyusunan laporan hasil penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Agustus – September 2011. Pada aspek teknis, parameter yang diteliti mencakup teknik silvikultur jelutung dengan sistem agroforestri, performansi pertumbuhan jelutung pada beberapa tipologi lahan gambut dan pola agroforestri, serta rancangan agroforestri berbasis jelutung yang dapat dikembangkan di lahan gambut. Pada aspek sosial, parameter yang diteliti adalah potensi getah jelutung sebagai hasil hutan bukan kayu (HHBK) unggulan sesuai Permenhut RI Nomor P.21/Menhut- II/2009. Pada aspek ekonomi, parameter yang diteliti mencakup margin pemasaran getah jelutung dan analisis finansial pengembangan jelutung dengan sistem agroforestri. Pada aspek lingkungan, parameter yang diteliti mencakup kesuburan tanah, iklim mikro dan teknologi pengkomposan sebagai sumber amelioran alternatif pengganti abu hasil pembakaran. Data primer diperoleh melalui wawancara, observasi dan pengukuran langsung di lapangan serta diskusi kelompok terfokus (FGD) yang melibatkan para pihak.
