Abstract: . The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of Jamu Galohgor on uterus involution and blood performance after giving birth. The Jamu was prepared from 56 kinds of material. All materials were obtained from the surrounding areas ofSukajadi village. Thirty-two postpartum dams (female rats) were allocated randomly on three groups; lactation without jamu as control, lactation with jamu supplementation, and non-lactation without jamu supplementation as reference group. The control group and 'jamu " groups were divided into five groups, according to lactation day 3,5,7,14 and 21 (3 dams for each groups, except the 3-day lactation of control group), the reference group also contained 3 dams. Each dam was kept in different cages, at room with temperature 22-23°C, and with 12h light-dark cycle. They were fed ad libitum on a commercial rat chow and water. Dose of "jamu" was given by the recommendation dose for nursing mothers at Sukajadi village. The 'jamu " was fed to the dams as much as 0.370 g/kg body weights by force-feeding started from first to seven days of postpartum (day of lactation). The blood sample and uterus were collected from the dams on 3,5,7,14 and 21 of lactation period and non-lactation dams. The blood sample analysis included erythrocyte and leukocyte count, haemoglobin, haematocrite (PCV = Packet Cell Volume), MCV (Mean Corpuscular Volume) and MCHC (Mean Corpuscular Haemoglobin Volume). The uterus involution of jamu groups was significantly faster than control groups. The effect of jamu Galohgor (postpartum herb) on uterus involution may be affected by bioactive compound existed in Jamu. Some studies show that some herbs as ingredient of Galohgor provided solely effect on inflammation, normal haemmorage at postpartum, and health recovery. But on this study, jamu did not affect on blood performance, though this still needs further investigation.
